It was early in 1994 and the time had come for us to have another dog in our lives. We had already had 2 bullies so there was no question as to what we wanted. We contacted a few South Australian breeders and soon found Merlin.

At this time we would have liked to have started breeding and showing. Unfortunately we did not do enough homework before hand and had no idea of what to do or what to look for. However, we loved Merlin and we could not have wished for a more loving, loyal dog.

Merlin was raised with our two daughters, Alisha and Nicole. When Merlin was almost 4 years old we introduced Joshua into our family. As you can see, Merlin took over the role of being Josh’s minder!

Merlin developed symptoms associated with skin allergies as a pup and at the age of 4 months we nearly lost him as his symptoms were so severe. He spent most of his life living with his allergies, was on various diets, steroids, antihistamines and prescribed creams. We eventually found an animal naturopath. Together with the naturopath and our vet we were able to bring Merlin some relief but were never able to clear his skin completely. Unfortunately Merlin lost his struggle just weeks prior to his 8th birthday.
